Replacing a Type K37 Keyboard Key

In this video guide, you’ll learn how to replace a type K37 keyboard key. This hinge can be found on the Apple iBook G4.

If you’ve purchased a key kit from us, you’ll start with a key, a rubber spring, and two metal hinge pieces. First, take the smaller metal piece and hook it into one side of the inner pair of metal loops on the keyboard. Stretch it into the loop on the other side and lay it down.

Now do the same thing with the bigger metal piece using the other pair of metal loops. Hook it into the metal loop on one side and stretch it into the other side. Set the rubber spring in the center if yours is missing. Then set the key where it goes and push down to snap it on.

The colors in the video may differ for your model, or the hinge may be rotated from what you see in this video. That’s fine, what matters most is the shape of the hinge piece.
